Saint Francis Hospice

Dear friend

Say it with cards this Christmas- share your true community values with customers, staff and suppliers

Saint Francis Hospice is offering you the opportunity to purchase Christmas cards which say that little bit more. Our personalised cards are not only a great way to thank the people who are key to the success of your business throughout the year, but they’re also a statement of your company ethos. Saint Francis makes an invaluable contribution to the local community by providing, completely free of charge, the very best in care and treatment to those affected by a life limiting illness. Every year more than 1,600 patients, as well as their families, benefit from the services of our skilled staff. Your hospice is highly valued by the local community and we desperately need your support. What better cause to align your business to?

“If I could drag people in off the street to show them the work of the hospice I would. I can never thank the staff and volunteers enough for the help they have given me and my family. Thanks to Saint Francis the fear has gone and I have taken control of the rest of my life- Brian Andrews, a current patient

More than you’d expect
When most people think of hospice care they imagine a building full of beds where dedicated doctors and nurses look after seriously ill people with only days left to live. You probably didn’t know that half of our inpatients are discharged having had their symptoms stabilised. You may also be surprised to hear that the majority of our patients are cared for in their own homes, surrounded by family and friends. Wherever a patient is cared for – and we aim to give them the choice - they can benefit from an impressive array of services including:

• A day hospice where 75 patients a week can come for treatment and support
• An education centre training medical staff from outside the hospice
• A social work department giving practical advice to patients and families
• A bereavement service providing emotional support to families including children
Hospice at home, giving the very best treatment to patients in their own homes
Chaplaincy giving spiritual guidance and comfort to people of all faiths and none
• A host of other clinical experts including physios and occupational therapists

Hospice care brings comfort and dignity to the lives of people for whom every day is precious. Whether an eighteen year old with a progressive brain tumour or a ninety year old with serious heart failure, treatment is tailored to individual need. Our staff listen and that simple philosophy helps patients and their families face the reality of what lies ahead.

Saint Francis Hospice needs £5m each year to continue its existing work, let alone plan to meet newly identified needs. You can help by filling in the attached form and ordering your personalised cards today. Yours sincerely
