Pilgrims Hospices

I am writing to ask whether you would consider supporting Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent by purchasing our Christmas cards to carry your firms good wishes to your customers, colleagues and friends.

Pilgrims Hospices occupy modern purpose built buildings in Canterbury, Thanet and Ashford. We provide care for patients in East Kent from Faversham and Romney Marsh in the west to Thanet and Dover in the east. The hospices care for terminally ill patients and their families irrespective of means, age, gender or faith.

Last year our hospices looked after over 1,650 patients. In addition to inpatient facilities each hospice has a day hospice providing physio, diversionary and complementary therapies. Chaplains, counsellors and social workers are also available to help patients and relatives. Additionally eighteen clinical nurse specialists take hospice care to our many patients living in the community.

Pilgrims Hospices is a registered charity, and although some government funding has been made available, over 78% of the £7 million running costs is provided by the generosity of the people of East Kent.

Christmas Cards are a very important part of our fundraising. I think you will agree the card of Canterbury is delightful and is complimented by an exclusive selection of superb designs, both traditional and modern. I am delighted to say that the hospice will receive a net profit of at least 23p for every card sold, which is one of the best charity deals available anywhere.

I do hope you decide that a Pilgrims Hospice card is the right vehicle for your Christmas message. Please accept our thanks and best wishes and the thanks, also, of our patients and their relatives who will be helped by your support.

Your faithfully
Steve Auty
