Princess Alice Hospice
The Princess Alice Hospice, Esher, is an independent charity, providing free, end of life care to adult patients, whilst also supporting their families and friends. the Hospice serves a community of over 1 million people; the community extends across a large part of south west London and Surrey.
We have 22 single en suite rooms and 2 three-bed bays for patients who seek a more sociable environment. People often think that all our work takes place at the Hospice; however, the majority of our work takes place in the community, with over 800 patients at any one time, receiving essential advice and support in their homes or care homes from our highly experienced team of Princess Alice Nurses.
Each year our multi-disciplinary team provide symptom relief, respite and end of life care to thousands of patients. Last year the team provided 9,251 days of In-Patient care, there were 2,343 attendances at the Day Hospice, the community team cared for 2,189 patients making 12,323 home visits.
Our specialist therapy team provide physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, the team aim to help maintain patient’s mobility and independence within the limits of their condition. We also offer spiritual, psychosocial and bereavement support.
Research and teaching are central to work. Through study days and courses, we share our knowledge and experience with the clinical community locally, nationally and internationally.
As a charity, over 70% of our income needs must be met by fundraising and voluntary donations. Our running costs are £6.8 million per annum; your support through the purchase of these cards is greatly needed and appreciated.
